This is the view of one person: one Wellington-based, curious individual.
Kevin Roberts tried to pitch us as the heart of the edge of the world and I quite like that description. Whether it’s the gentle zephyrs that amble across our harbour (keeping any traces of smog away), our location on the periphery of the vast Pacific, or our distance from the action that is Europe, the US or more recently Asia – we seem to be out on the edge.
But do we have a heart? Or a brain?
People want reasons to love where they live. Even in Canberra, they can find reasons. Here in Wellington, we may have some similarities (seat of government); but I suspect we would rather align ourselves with other cities – San Francisco, Vancouver, Melbourne.
Of course there is another angle to this thing. I’m just experimenting to see how it all works. Learning by doing. So far, it’s kind of interesting.
